So after a summer of living in the wilds our children have finally lost their fear of insects. Which is a good job because it just gets worse….after the midges, hornets and ticks, mice and bats in the roof, we find not one but three wasps nests – all conveniently in different parts of the building so the cheerful Pest Control man can charge us three times. He was so cheerful, he brought out the disgusting larvae-infested nest to show us and suggested the kids take it to school for their nature table…..

And talking of maggoty things, I’ve learned never to leave the lid open on the food recycling bin again. It’s not nice when you can see it writhing………….

  1. look on the bright side you have plenty of bait for fishing and the wasps are mostly carniverous and get thro a huge ammount of green fly during the summer……….also if you can reach the nest fly spray is much cheaper……….you just need to wrap up well !!!!! Love M xxxx
